Argentina Working Holiday Visa 2026: Requirements, Quota and Mandatory Insurance

The Argentina Working Holiday is open up to age 35 and requires mandatory insurance of EUR 30,000 covering illness, hospitalisation, repatriation and maternity, valid for 12 months.

Less well known than the Australia or Canada Working Holiday, the Argentina Working Holiday Visa is winning over more and more French travellers: stunning landscapes, an affordable cost of living, and the right to work legally for 12 months. Good news: it is open up to age 35, versus 30 for most destinations.

Argentina Working Holiday requirements

  • Age: 18 to 35 for French citizens.
  • Duration: 12 months.
  • Quota: 1,200 places per year.
  • Funds: around EUR 2,500 in savings to prove.

Insurance: a MANDATORY condition

Unlike some Working Holiday schemes where insurance is only recommended, Argentina requires it. Your policy must:

  • cover illness, hospitalisation, repatriation and maternity;
  • provide at least EUR 30,000 of cover;
  • be valid for 12 months, even if you plan to stay for a shorter period.

This is not a detail: a compliant insurance certificate is part of the application file. Cover that is too low, or shorter than 12 months, can block your visa.

What about other Latin American countries?

France also has Working Holiday agreements with Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay. Insurance conditions vary from one country to another, but a health and repatriation requirement is almost always present.
